To order:
The GRO index reference number is needed to apply for a certificate. This reference number includes the name, year, quarter, district, volume and page number.
The indexes can be accessed online at http:// www.findmypast.com (official site) or http://www.freebmd.org.uk (not an official site and not a complete compilation of indexes).
They can also be viewed on microfilm or microfiche and are available at major libraries, LDS family history centres and family history societies.
Refer to the FAQ’s for information regarding unknown/multiple reference numbers.
Turnaround:
Allow 3-4 weeks
You can either choose to have your certificates returned to you by regular post, or by registered mail (see form for price details).
* 1851-1911 Census may provide additional information, not recorded in certificates.
